Canada Day

Max and I parked at the side of the road tonight to watch the fireworks at the airport. A small child's voice, coming from the vehicle beside us, was quietly singing "Happy Birthday to Canada, Happy Birthday to Canada..."
Oops. Somehow I never got around to really celebrating the meaning of this day. We live in an awesome country. It's a privilege to be able to vote. Am I taking it all for granted?
Yup. I am. And I'm passing that attitude along to my boys. For shame.
Gotta remember to make an effort next year. Note to self - make red and white cupcakes on July 1, 2005.
And have the kids memorize the constitution.

Three things to smile about:
1. Big, fat, full orange moon creeping up over the horizon.
2. Good friends who love sitting on the beach, soaking in the sun.
3. Nine year old boys with big brown eyes and huge warm hearts.

One thing to growl at:
WEEDS
