Feb 3 is known internationally as

The Day the Music Died

"The Day the Music Died Day commemorates the untimely death of singers Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper. These three Rock singers died in an airplane crash on February 3, 1959 at the height of their popularity. Every generation has their music idols. These three were among the top of the 1950's generation. Those who grew up in the fifties mourned the premature deaths of their music idols. Memorials and remembrances occurred for years. Today, there are many websites memorializing their deaths, and detailing the events before and after the tragedy. "

How many of you have the following song running through your mind right now?
Put your hand up if you know the tune is that accompanies these lyrics...

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.
"This’ll be the day that I die."

All those with their hands in the air are old.
Do you wear track suits too?

You realize that song is going to be in your head all day now...

Sorry bout that.

Not really.
