What are the Five Languages of Love?
Do you know them?
Have you any idea what I'm talking about?
According to Gary Chapman, "A love language is the way we express our devotion and commitment, and it can be learned or changed to touch the hearts of our partners."
The five are:
1. Words of Affirmation
2. Receiving Gifts
3. Quality Time
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch
Which language is most effective in touching your heart?
What does your partner (or kids or siblings) do that really makes you feel loved?
For me, it's words.
Words.
Words of affirmation.
Words of encouragement.
Words of life.
I can remember one Valentine's Day 78 years ago when I asked my poor husband to not buy me anything, just write out a list (what is it with me and lists?) of 10 reasons why he loved me.
I got a dozen roses.
When I wanted words.
He was speaking Japaneze.
I was speaking Portugese.
We had a language issue.
Last night, I blog surfed for a few minutes to see how my favorite writers had spent the day.
This is what Trish saw when she got up in the morning:
In addition to it being Valentine's Day, it was her 25th wedding anniversary. Her husband MADE 25 hearts and hung them all over the house.
He wrote "I Love You" on one side. And on the other side he wrote "Because".
And then - and this part melts my innards - when you pull back the "Because" part...he wrote a different reason why he loves her on each heart.
Twenty five reasons. Written down. In words.
She says its the best present she has ever received. I totally believe her.

Couldn't have cared less for the paper hearts. :) Sorry, Loved her decor though. I guess I just love my old guy that has stuck with me through 25 years. We had so much fun on the cruise for our 25th, just hanging around like two peas in a pod. :)
