April 11 - National ...

Eight Track Tape Day

When : Always April 11th
Eight Track Tape Day brings back fond memories of the sixties and seventies. During this era, eight track tapes ruled the music world. America's love of the automobile, was a driving force in creating the demand for musical cassette formats. For those who grew up in this era, an eight track tape player in your home and your car was an essential. It was eventually replaced by cassette and other formats for storing music.

If you still have tapes and a player, by all means enjoy the day listening to some great music. If not, just spend a few minutes looking back in time to when you loved your eight track tapes!

Did you know? Eight track tapes were created by the jet maker William Lear.

Favorite 8 track tape memory:
Driving that boat of a Buick down the I-5 in '79 listening to the Beach Boys and some Country Hits mix. Ahhh. The good ol days. When snow was in the north. And sunshine and deserts were in the south.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Writer's Group field trips to used book stores.
2. Easter. Church on Good Friday - my all-time favorite service to attend. Christmas is nice n all, but the reason behind this season is what being a Christian is all about.
3. That a spider had made it's home in one of Max's shirts, which freaked him out. No really. Total freakage.
The boy is now on a cleaning spree. It's a beautiful thing.

Shalom, friend -

Aaah the memories of the 8 track. Cruisin'main street on the weekend with the music up loud. Parking and makin' er uum I mean watchin' the sun set. My mom still has some of mine in a closet in her house in Saskatchewan.
Who knew Max hated spiders so much. Maybe Ishould try planting some in my girl's room. Although it may go undiscovered for a long time!!
Well happy 8 track day everyone.
