So for grade 10, he left the fundamental school system and enthusiastically enrolled in metalwork at Poppy.
All semester long he jockeyed for postion in front of various machines, often losing out to the more agressive guys.
He completed one project - a small vice, which was "misplaced" in the shop room at the end of the term.
The whole experience was disappointing for him and he will not make an effort to get training in metal work again.
In February, a guy from our church (a dad with three teen aged kids who go to youth on Tuesday nights) asked Drew if he was interested in learning how to weld.
He was.
For the past 2 months, I've dropped Drew off at Dave's house, where they hang out in his garage making sparks fly.
On Tuesday Drew brought home his finished product:
And could hardly wait to give it to his little brother...
Thanks, Dave, for sacrificing your Tuesday nights...
You've made these Oh Bros very happy.
