Sears New Outlook - For people over 50 ...because life just gets better.

I picked Max up from school at 3:45 pm today.

"The guys are coming over to watch a video, is that OK?"

"When?"

"Uh. Now, I think."

"Are they staying for supper?"

"Why do you worry about these things? We'll just eat whatever snacks you've got around the house. I've got a box of Jelly Tots. We're good."

I dropped him off at home, then zipped over to IGA to pick up hamburger fixins. By the time I got home, my family room was full of teenagers.

After the video, they ate BBQed burgers, chips, and brownie bites. The food disappeared in under 48 seconds and then they were off to see a play. I was left with a kitchen full of dishes. Again. Still. I never seem to get them all done. I get bored washing every cup and utensil we own twice a day.

I puttered and tidied and two hours later they were back. More burgers. Another 4 litres of chocolate milk. And another sink full of dishes.

At 8:15 pm I had a vision. Of me spending the rest of my life with my hands in soapy water. It was not a pretty sight, as my face had melted and was dripping into the sink. So I went to Sears. And bough a dishwasher.

It didn't take much for him to convince me that a new fridge and stove would be excellent additions to my kitchen and a wise investment against insanity. I signed up for the no interest, no money down, 24 equal payments plan.

And then he said, "Oh, we've got a great coupon promotion on right now. It's called New Outlook - awesome discounts for shoppers over 50."

The $40 in coupons offset my indignation. Hello..blonde ponytail. Pimples. Denim capris. Physical evidence that clearly indicates I am no where near being half a century old.

Three things I'm thankful for:

1. The birthday party they had for me at work today... Cake, flowers and a card with lots of uplifting words.

2. I'm getting new appliances! Black ones. Now I need to find a way to make an extra $85 per month.

3. Went for a walk with Clint at 11:30 pm. Love summer evenings. Love walking. Love my neighourhood. Love my kids. Love how good it smells out there...

Shalom,

You may not be nearing the big 50, but you hang around with people who do. Namely, me. :) In a year and a half I'll have hit the half century mark. You can help me pick out a walker at Sears. Congrats on the new appliances.
