Reunion Weekend

Vern's plane was scheduled to arrive at 3:15 pm.
I ran into the airport at 3:30 pm only to find it empty. After checking with Chris, the friendly West Jet gate guard, I was informed that the flight had been delayed in Calgary for an hour.

So I went back to my dad's truck (my is still getting looked at) and promptly feel asleep. The noise created by people putting their luggage into the car next to mine woke me up at 4:35 pm so I ran through the rain (again) and found her waiting for me, suitcase and all.

We met up with Sherry and her Europe photo albums (she and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by backpacking through Europe this summer for five and a half weeks) at an Abby restaraunt. We sat and talked and looked at pics til the restaraunt closed 5 hours later.

Then Vern and I drove out to the cabin where the non-stop talking and looking at pics continued for an additional 48 hours. Every once in a while we'd stop to sleep. Or walk. Or look at the trees on the other side of the lake. But mostly we talked. She asked about all those things that I don't post on this blog. I asked her about everything because she doesn't communicate at all during the year.

When I dropped her off at the airport this afternoon, we had just barely caught up.

My throat is raw.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Sleeping at the cabin with my window wide open. The sound of rain, the fresh air ...
2. Saturday night's thunder and lightening show over the lake...spectacular.
3. Friendships that pick up where you left off, even if it's a year later.

Videos we watched:
