Big sigh.
Oh Pam.
Anguished sigh.
So sad.
This whole business of miscommunication is painful to watch even though its realistic and completely believable because in real life, misunderstandings and embarassing moments are an everyday occurance and relationships end because of unspoken feelings or fear of exposing one's vulnerable emotions. (I couldn't figure out how to break that into two sentences. I fear it ran on a little long.)
Blah. blah, blah. Whatever. It's just a half hour sitcom, not a comentary on today's society.
Speaking of today, wasn't that news about Anna Nicole sad? It reminded me of Diana's passing. Of course I'm not saying that Anna Nicole was anything like Diana, but it seemed to me to be just as tragic. But on a smaller scale. Like, someone who was always in the news won't be anymore. Gone. No more invasion of their privacy, no more glimpses into the sad lives of a princess and a heiress.
Speaking of princesses, there are some women who are doing the upcoming summer missions trip to Mexico princess-style. They'll be foregoing the fun of being on bus nonstop for 24 hours with 50 - 55 teenagers in order to get to Six Flags Theme Park when it opens on the Saturday morning. They will miss 8 hours of rollercoaster fun, followed by another 4 hours on the bus and the joy of sleeping on a church gym floor at night. As well, they'll miss the crossing-the-Mexican-border-in-a-bus experience and the keeping-track-of-55-teens-at-a-street-fair-in-Tiajuana experience. Their princess package will cause them to miss out on the thrill of seeing the Baja FROM THE BUS.
When you check off PRINCESS lifestyle on that form you're given at birth, you are entitled to special allowances. And on mission trips, that means you and a friend fly from Vancouver to San Diego on a non-stop, direct flight, then rent a 2007 model air-conditioned car and, setting your own pace, drive the coastal highway along the California Baja into a tiny village in Mexico. When the houses are built and the being a missionary part of the trip is done, the princesses drive back to the airport and fly home in 4 hours.
The rest of us really spiritual ones will get on the bus for a non-stop, 36 hour bus ride back to BC.
See the difference? Never underestimate the power of forms and documents. Think carefully before you check certain boxes. There are long term ramifications to every decision you make.
Before this post totally deteriorates, I better call it a night.
A night.
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. I am not bitter about my non-royal status. Blessed are the humble.
2. My hands smell like bleach. Means that something got cleaned. Always a good thing.
3. Yay. The weekend. It's just minutes away. Yay. I get to pack up boxes. Love the feeling of accomplishment when a box is labeled and sealed.
Shalom,
