At 4 pm today I was in the freezer section of Costco trying to decide what appys to buy for tonight's Youth Event.
At 5 pm I was in the wrong line up at Safeway buying those few things that Costco didn't have.
From 5:15 - 6:15 I was at home frantically cleaning, dicing, chopping, mixing, and trying to motivate my boys to do the same.
At 5:40 pm, the BBQ ran out of propane, making it impossible to prepare the chicken wings on my property.
At 5:50 pm, I thought my back would snap from the self-imposed tension.
At 6:00 my kids forbid me to ever have company ever again if this is the way I'm going to be before everyone arrives.
I would have been fine if they just could have read my mind and did those things that needed doing without me having to ask again and again and then explain why I asked.
At 6:15 at least 30 people arrived and stood in my kitchen.
Thirty is an overwhelming number when they come in like that, all at once, in a pack.
But it turned out fine. By 7:00 pm they were all gone. Unfortunately my Friday night treat, the latest People magazine never made it home from Costco so I unwound with John Cusack instead:

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. When push came to shove, they stepped up to the plate - all three of them. Max looked after the chicken wings at a neighbours house, Drew prepared the beverages and Clint put together a vegie platter.
2. The new Dove commercial on TV. The one about older women having thick hair.
3. The good news Chris got regarding this next step towards publishing her book.
Shalom,
