My mom is having emergency surgery tonight to remove a perforated bowel. Please pray for her, the surgeon (a Ms. Janzen), the nursing staff at Surrey Memorial, and our family as we care for her and my dad.
She should be out of surgery by 3 am. But will be in the hospital for most of next week.
Rather than call the house, please phone us kids for updates. Dad may make some phone calls, but he's a bit confused about this all.
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. That mom called for an ambulance.
2. That there was not only a Christian - but a MENNONITE surgeon from CLEARBROOK in the hospital who was ready, willing and totally capable of doing the procedure immediately.
3. That Daryl is happy to spend the night with dad tonight while I go back to the hospital to wait.

UPDATE: 4 am - She's out of surgery and in recovery. It was messy and complicated. And it looks like she may be in the hospital for at least 2 weeks. Plus she'll need another operation in 6 - 12 months.
No visitors (except family) for the first week.
