Stay-up-til-4:00am-to-finish-it-worthy. Thanks, dad and mom, for doing more than loving us. Thanks for being responsible and unselfish. Jeannette Walls (the author) is the same age as me. She wasn't raised during the Irish potato famine. She wasn't a European jew in the 1940's. She is an American, born in the 60's to hippy-like parents who believed in freedom above all else.

When I read books like this I wonder what my kids' memoirs would be like? How are they going to remember their childhoods?
