OK. Enough with the Decorating...

Although, thanks to Andie, now that I know how to spiff things up around here, I anticipate I will waste even more hours blogging in the future. I'm even thinking of redoing all those old blogs of mine. Just because I totally can.

The big news today?
The State of the Union address.
And I got a surgery date. (Feb 18)

So yay for both breaking stories. The United States will stay united for another year and I'm losing one of my non-essential organs. (A person also doesn't need a spleen, an appendix, both of their kidneys, uterus or ovaries. All these spare parts...)

Oh. Know what else?
I bought 4 tickets to London yesterday.
Yay us.
We're leaving on Friday July 30 - all 4 of us.
I wanted to put an exclamation mark behind that previous statement, but chose to be more understated instead.
This is me, being restrained.

OK. On to "The" questions...

What skill do I most want to learn or improve this year?

I want to, nay, NEED to learn how to be proficient in Adobe Illustrator. I think this is my third consecutive year of realizing this. Maybe this is the year I do something about it? (Have I mentioned that I'm going to England for 3 weeks? Yeah.... on  the one hand, I'm planning a trip. On the other, I have these goals and resolutions. Oh the conflict.)

To what need or ministry will you try to give an unprecedented amount this year?

I'm toying with the idea of sponsoring another Compassion child. To pay for this, I thought I'd offer to take family/engagement/grad/whatever pics for $35 per session. All I need to do is one session per month and VOILA! - another big-browned-eyed hungry child becomes part of my family.

And the other ministry that is going to get an unprecedented amount of my blood, sweat and tears this year is Arrow. I totally believe in their mission and am proud to be part of the team.

What's the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your commute this year?

My 15 minute car-ride to and from work - THAT commute?
I don't know if I can improve it anymore than I already have in the past. Three years ago I decided to spend those 15 minutes praying. I turn the radio off, switch on cruise control, close my eyes, and pray.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Farmer sausage
2. Olympic fever
3. Co-workers who don't mind binding booklets for 2 solid days.

Shalom,

Of course I do not close my eyes.

Re: improving your commute. I have an idea (well, besides getting a different, more fuel efficient ride, which I assume would possibly also improve/change the ride) OPEN YOUR EYES! sheesh woman!

LOVE the picture you chose for the header by the way! Blog is looking seriously sweet.

Adobe InDesign. If you've got to pick one, learn InDesign - it's way more useful for the kind of stuff you do at Arrow unless you're going to get into designing logos or something...

You should invite me over sometime (over the Olympics when I have time?) and I can spend a whole afternoon or two showing you some of the most basic (and yet uber-useful) InDesign skills. I'll even do it for free! Mmm. Well not totally. Some tea or something while we go through it would be good.

Also. I'm so sorry that it took TWO DAYS to bind those books. I really wish I had more time for you guys this month :(

Shannon?
I'm taking the second week of the Olympics off just to sit on my couch and watch all the festivities!

That, and get used to living without a g'blad. So you are totally welcome to come and sit on my couch beside me. And we'll both have our laptops on our laps and I'll learn you how to decorate your blog and you can learn me how to use Indesign.

Who can we get to come serve us tea?
