The first of three galas is done.
I am so thankful for all the volunteers that helped make it a great evening.
1. I am thankful for Max. He came, wore his younger brother's new grad cruise clothes, and stood in the parking lot holding parking passes in case anyone needed one. One person did. And at the end of the night he manned the book table with Henny. Know what I loved about having him there? His smiling face.
2. I am thankful for Clint. He was our AV/tech guy. I love that he is so capable. So professional. So confident. He was also so sleepy. It's midterm week at school - and he'd been studying through the night. Know what I loved about having him there? His calm work ethic.
3. I am thankful for Sandra. She volunteered to help in any way we needed her. And she came straight from the airport to man our coat check room. Know what I loved about having her there? The way she was filled with joy meeting people she knew. Also, her outgoing personality. She wasn't the least bit shy about removing the coats from our guests as they walked in the door. "Here. I'll just take this from you..."
Of course I'm thankful for the rest of the Arrow gala team, but these three are 'my' people... and I loved that they sacrificed a Friday night for me.
4. And I'm thankful for Danica. She brought over some professional tools and ringletted my head this morning. HUNDREDS of ringletts. And 17 hours later? Still all boingy. So fun. And such a relief to not have to worry about flat lifeless hair.
AND NOW?
I'm thankful that I have two young friends who are hanging out at the cabin with me. In a few hours we will start reading. And do more reading. And then even more. Twenty four hours is the goal. We'll see how that works out.
Shalom,
