Whoa.

I hope Social Studies teachers are saving these opening ceremonies for future classes to view. What a fun way to learn about Great Britian's contributions, both cultural and industrial, to world history.

Didja notice my clean(er) blog? I've been tidying. And updating. Thoughts?

I'm kinda hoping the little countries will earn some metals.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chech Republic? What the heck. Rubber boots and baggy shorts? Hahaha.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm appreciating the commentators telling us where exactly in the world some of these tiny countries are located. Feeling like I should have a map of the world out while the teams march into the stadium.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With this new blog layout, I won't be adding a new monthly banner pic. Wondering if anyone will even miss it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The last time I sat on this couch to watch the Olympics, I'd just had an internal organ sucked from my body. Haven't missed that gall bladder for one minute.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
El Savador's flag carrier is wearing heals.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Has a balding head. And I just realized why. I slip my reading glasses up onto the top of my head when I don't need them. EVERYTIME I move them back to my nose, a hair (just one, but still) gets caught in the hinge. This means that I am pulling out, on average, a dozen hairs per day (at least) x 365 days per year x 10 years = a really big number, consequently: Jane is balding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really have to make a point of getting dressed and putting on my make up the second I get up. Because if I wait? Like today? HOURS and HOURS go by. And it doesn't matter until a friend drops in at 3:20 to drop off some books. Seriously. I don't even have that vital piece of support underwear on. Or washed hair. Or brushed teeth. Or, like anything that makes me human.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That P & G commercial about 'to their mom's they'll always be kids' is a killer. So true. Regardless if they become Olympic athletes or not.

Just got a phone call with excellent news. Simply excellent.
My transmission troubles? Are covered by the DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY.

ANOTHER week without my truck, but YAY. And thank you, God.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
African girl athletes are gorgeous. Those blue and yellow striped shirts the Swedes are wearing remind me of the '80's. Some countries wear blazers and skirts, others, are totally casual, in athletic wear, and still others are more like costumes. A smorgasbord of fashion statements. Love it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just saw Kate, William and Harry. They're repping their country well. The queen, on the other hand, was just picking her fingernails. :)

Three FIVE Things I'm Thankful For:

1. The whole truck thing, no dah. Oh the relief. Thank you, God. And Jesus.
2. Facebook status updates. They let me know it was time to turn on the TV to watch the Opening Ceremonies. Thanks, friends, who started watching a few minutes before me.
3. Jenn, one of my dad's care aids, mentioned that he had had two (TWO) good nights in a row. So very thankful.
4. Creativity. And excellence. In all it's forms. But today? I'm totally appreciating all that went into making these opening ceremonies so outstanding. The leadership and vision are to be applauded.
5. I'm thankful for the communications options we have available to us in this century. No lie.

Shalom,

Today's verse:

Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:30-31

Love the new look. The blog, not your balding head.
