It's a Double Fan Night

We are in the midst of a wonderfully glorious heat wave.

I love it.

This?
Is summer.

I get my best ideas when driving.

When do you get yours?

At church tonight we watched a video montage of the baptisms that took place in June at Cultus. There's something powerful about listening to people share their faith, no?

There's something inspiring about listening to people boldly declare their alliance with God.

Also tonight there was a new-to-me song:

Be still, my soul, the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain

I love the way the words are arranged.
I love the richness and the weight of the words.
And I love the way the writer is talking to his SOUL ...

And this is why I am not a song writer:

Hey soul.
Chill.
God is on our side.
Yeah, this sadness and pain sucks.
Hang in there;
Leave it to God.
He will provide.
(Peace. He'll provide peace.)
And He'll create order from the chaos.
Come what may, regardless of all the changes,
He will remain faithful.

Three things I'm thankful for:

1. Late night Facebook chats that end in invitations to dinner.
2. Full moons. Starry skies.
3. Church. It is good to be in the company of folks who are like-minded.

Shalom,
xo
