One room at a time...

Thanks, Donna for the beautiful area carpet. All three boys like it. In fact, Clint says it makes the room look "homely" - which I think was meant as a compliment because he probably meant "homey". As in warm and cozy. Inviting.
The new addition to our family room inspired us to clean with abandon... all the furniture was moved and Drew enthusiastically washed the floor.
So, now, in addition to a clean shed and closet. I have a presentable family room.
Oh, and I squirted some Lysol in my toilet earlier this evening. Baby steps. Eventually the whole house will get done.

Drew's big Value Village find. A vintage neon Langley Concrete and Tile cap.

They just don't make em like they used to.

Three things I'm thankful for: (besides the obvious new carpet...)

1. A conversation I had with Max: "Mom, have you ever read anything out of this book?" he asks, holding up a short story textbook from his English class. "No. I don't think so." I replied. "Well, there's a great story in here. I think you'd like it. It has vivid imagery." I smiled, "I'd love to read it." We leave the house so I can drive him to his night school class and he talks non-stop about his day. I drop him off in the parking lot a few minutes later and confirm that I'll be back in 2 hours. "Mom? Page 109. The story is on page 109..."

Hours later, "Did you read it?"

"Uh huh."

"Didn't you like the way the writer ended it with a metaphor?"

"What was a metaphor?"

"The way their disagreement was resolved. It was like a storm subsiding."

"Oh. So you think it had a happy ending?"

"Yeah. Of course it did."

"Huh. I thought the baby had died and she went crazy."

"Are you sure you read the right story?"

2. A conversation I had with my boss: He said to me this afternoon, "You are a writer..." I can't remember what else he said. I stopped listening after that.

3. Conversations I've had with 5 various people over the past few days. ALL of us are having a run of stressful encounters. It's not just me.

Take care,

Congrats on the carpet. Me, too -- baby steps, gotta buy some lysol.

And CONGRATS on being a WRITER. Have you not been listening, I'm sure I've mentioned that before? But, so nice to have the boss thinks so too, eh?

Wonderful Blog, haven't said so lately, been too flippin busy. I read somewhere it's getting to be a very recognized venue.
