Hey, Mrs. O? Is your tire supposed to make that hissing sound?
I walk around to the back of my truck and sure 'nuff...that passenger side back tire is hissing.
John puts his hand over the tire and says, "Wow. Feel all the air that's coming out."
So I do. Feel the air.
Then we stand back and watch all the air leak through the hole. In less than 3 minutes the rubber is puddled in front of the rim. It was a big hole, caused by a rock. A very sharp rock.
I'd just arrived at the H's house, were Drew and his friends are learning how to weld. Dave, huge-hearted dad to three teenagers, opens his garage to the grade 6 boys in our church on Tuesday nights. They play with power tools that make alot of noise and cause sparks to fly. It's Drew's favorite night of the week.
I've been trying to make Tuesday nights my gym night. Every week something comes up to prevent me from going.
This week's valid excuse is a blown tire.
It's always something...
The BCAA guy didn't think it was repairable. "That's a good sized hole. I'd be surprised if they'd fix it. You'll probably have to buy a new set."
Yes. Of course I will.
It's Tuesday. Time for a Top Ten List.
Things that I have to replace or repair...
1. Tires (Big hole caused by big rock)
2. Vacuum (Keeps shredding drive belts)
3. Curling Iron (Cord swiveller no longer swivels. Just winds up into a tight mess)
4. Hoe (Handle broke off)
5. Computer hard drive (It's full and not functioning well)
6. Running Shoes (Good gravy my old ones stink)
7. Front Windows (The seal has broken and well, we have condensation and mould issues)
8. Bathing Suit (Self explanatory)
9. Garage Door Openers (Neither of them work)
10. Lightbulbs (Four have burnt out this week. None are 'normal' bulbs that I can buy while doing my groceries)
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. A great visit with Marj while waiting for the friendly BCAA guy to look after me. As far as timing goes - it was perfect. (Ten minutes earlier and Drew would have missed his welding session. Ten minutes later and I'd have been on a dark stretch of road by myself.)
2. Cold and Flu season has officially ended. We are all relatively healthy. It skipped me this time. Yay. I'm going to get sick tomorrow, aren't I?
3. Staff Development Days at work. I always learn something.
Bible verse I'm hanging onto tonight:
"The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads." Ps 145:14
Shalom,
