1 2 3 4 5 Five. Five. Let's sing a song about five...

Five on Friday:
Concerning All Things Last:

1. What is the last thing you ate without regret?
In 1963 I ate a plate of lettuce.
2. Who was the last person you talked to?
That would be Clint. At 11 pm tonight. I missed him, so I called to see how his week was going. I'm so glad someone invented cell phones.
3. When was your last vacation?
Define vacation.
The last time I went away somewhere was my recent Creationfest adventure. It was, once again, the highlight of the summer. But it was not restful, restorative or refreshing. I came back fatigued and burnt.
Most people would say every weekend for me is a vacation because I spend a day or two at a cabin on a lake. They might be right.
4. When was your last hug and who did you receive it from?
Hmmmm. *drumming fingers on desktop*...hug? Maybe Drew before he went to his dad's place on Tuesday? Other than that I have a vague memory of receiving a hug from a woman...upon meeting for something? parting ways after some time together? Golly, I just can't remember. It's been a long time, obviously.
But I know I'll get a some friendly body contact next Thursday. The dentist always puts his hand on my shoulder when he talks to me about flossing and how my life is going. Then he grabs a pointy sharp object and stabs my gums til they bleed.
5. What is the last thing most people learn about you?
Last thing? What would be the first thing? That I have cracked heels? That I have a diploma in Marketing Management? That I was a licensed realtor for two of the longest years in history? That I prefer linguine over spaghetti, regardless of sauce? That I wanted my third pregnancy to produce a son? That I have a hard time going to bed before midnight? That December by Collective Soul has been my number one favorite song for years and years and will likely never get bumped from that spot? That I prefer old-fashioned sharpenable pencils to the modern-day mechanical ones? That I don't know how to tie a multi-looped decorative bow? That I have 8 less teeth than the average adult because my mouth is so small? That I will make three right turns to avoid one left turn? That I have never read To Kill A Mockingbird? That I have a flagpole in my backyard? That...? Oh never mind.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. A very intense work week is over for me. I came home and crashed. Woke up a few hours later completely disoriented and disappointed that Chandler did not make an appearance.
2. My house and yard are complete and utter wrecks and it doesn't matter. Nobody cares. I can deal with it when summer is over. If I want.
3. Memories. I've got so many good ones.

Shalom,

GASP . . . You have never read one of my all-time favorites. It's a classic, in my top five of favorite books. Been meaning to ask you, what's your top 10 favorite books? And a word to the wise, don't go to the dentist, even if they do hug. Nasty people, nasty.

Personal note. I can't find your email addresses here at home. I just put this on Adrea's blog, Finally heard from the editor, and due to technial difficulties this summer, she's finally getting to my manuscript. I'm excited and relieved at the same time. A lot hinges on her critiqe and I'll be basing future writing decisions on what she says. Could you pass this on the others via email. I'll try to leave notes on their blogs as well, just to let them know. And oh, yes, I know, but could you say a wee prayer. :)
