Herroh?

The phone rang and a very asian-sounding male voice asked for Jane.
"Speaking."
"Jane?"
"Yes?"
"Congratulations! Congratulations, Jane! You have won a free trip to Florida and the Bahamas. This is Something Travel. Your name was pulled from the basket at the Richmond Night Market. Do you remember filling out an entry form that night?"
"Uh, no. I don't remember doing that."
"Well, you did. And you have won an all expenses paid 8 day vacation for two in Florida including a cruise through the Bahamas. Isn't this exciting?"
"Yeahhhh..."
"Have you ever been to the Bahamas, Jane?"
"Nope."
"Oh, you'll love it there. It's fabulous. Have you ever been on a cruise?"
"Nooo."
"Oh my goodness, this is going to be such a great trip for you. I just need to verify three things before I go on. Is your name Jane?"
"Yes."
"Are you single?"
"Uh huh."
"Do you have a major credit card?"
"Uh huh."
"EXCELLENT! You quailfy. All you have to do is pay your own airfare to Florida, and everything else will be handled, because we want you to enjoy yourself. Once you pay the promotion fee, I can send you the information package, which gives you 18 months to book your free vacation for two. Seeing you are single, you must have someone in mind that you'd like to take along?"
"Oh yeah. I have someone in mind..."
"Perfect. Have you ever been to Nassau? Because that's where you'll be staying for 2 nights in a 5 star hotel, after cruising on the Regal Princess. And, your four days in Florida will be at a 5 star hotel at the theme parks. We want this to be the best vacation of your life, so we're renting you a car with unlimited mileage as well as giving you 4 days of passes to all the parks."
"Uh huh."
"This is so exciting. So, can I send you that package?"
"Sure. By the way, how much is that promotional fee?
"$780 per person. Now if you could just give me the expiration date of your Visa, it is a Visa that you have, isn't it?"

Click.
I hung up.
Him wanting my expiration date was setting off red flag warnings.

But for about 5 minutes I was imagining Christmas morning, and me giving the kids airline tickets to Florida...

The Florida phone call was last night.
This evening I won a trip to Las Vegas because my name had been chosen from the Richmond Night Market contest box.
She needed to verify three things:
1. That I was single.
2. That I had a major credit card.
3. That I had an annual income of alot of money.

Just before I hung up on her, she needed to know my credit card's expiration date.

Like my weight, my Visa's expiration date is a closely guarded secret.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Awesome summer weather, 26 degrees today. I LOVE living in BC.
2. Tomorrow is the annual "Meet you at the Pole" day, where high school students go to school an hour early to pray for their school, teachers, other students, etc at the flag pole. Max is going. And Clint said he'd drive him (at 6:45 am) and stay to pray as well. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to all the folks who've helped me raise these sons of mine.
3. My new trees. Oh how I love looking at them from the street.

Shalom,
