Richmond Night Market

Not as big as I had anticipated, but worth the drive, never-the-less.

This year's theme: Summer of Love.

Which is a weird theme for an asian food and souvenier market.

Sandra and I shared the experience with these guys. Who, by the way, were not excited by the dinner options. They talked about opening a cheeseburger stand next year.

Max and Jon courageously ordered dragonfruit smoothie/slushies. They were excellent. Clint is interested in purchasing some dragonfruit to have on hand. Pretty sure Safeway doesn't stock them as a regular item.

These were AMAZING! Oh. My. Goodness. How I loved this. Shaved mango ice. Can you see the texture? Can you feel it melting on your tongue? Are your taste buds finding delight with the way the subtle flavors gently blend together in your mouth. Pure heaven. I had two. (I shared them both with the guys.)

On the other hand, some food items were gag-worthy. This not only looked slimy and rubbery, it smelled like crap.

Fish Ball.

Big seller, regardless of what they were floating in.

The booths were interesting. Lots of bras for sale. And Hello Kitty merchandise. Not to mention Asian anima DVD's.

This book intrigued us. Pop-up sex manual.

All in all, a great evening. Would recommend it as an alternative to sitting at home watching Gunsmoke reruns on TV.

you can buy dragonfruit at the tnt market, but they're, like, 12 bucks, or something stupid. or you can hop over to thailand and pick them up for roughly 75 cents a kilo.
