Looking Back -

The year in review.. :)

1. what did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before? Lived in the year 2006. Fasted for 48 hours.

2. did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Not one. And yes, I’ll make more. Because that’s what I do. I make lists.

3. did anyone close to you give birth? Yeah… Andie had Tink. Lani had Lili and Becca had Bronson.

4. did anyone close to you die? Not “close” to me, but I went to three funerals – Great Grandma O in the spring, Oma Kuebler in the summer and Mr. Heppell in the fall.

5. what countries did you visit? Just the USA. Ho Hum.

6. what would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006? A flat stomach. Confidence in social situations. (Which, I think will magically happen if I aquire the aforementioned flat stomach.) Enough money to pay my property taxes.

7. what date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? November 19, because that’s the day Max got baptized.

8. what was your biggest achievement of the year? Did I have even a small achievement this year? Why can’t I think of one? I must’ve done something…

9. what was your biggest failure? Inability to raise the money I was supposed to at work. Max didn’t pass all his grade 10 classes. I didn’t lose the weight that has attached itself to me.

10. did you suffer illness or injury? Nope.

11. what was the best thing you bought? Three trees.

12. whose behavior merited celebration? All three of them had moments of greatness, causing my heart to explode with pride and my head to swell.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? All three of them share this honor – as they have all sent me running to my truck in tears with a chocolate bar hanging out of my mouth.

14. Where did most of your money go? Food. (if pop, chips and pizza count as food) And after that, I sunk a ton of cash into keeping my truck on the road and heat in this house.

15. what did you get really, really, really excited about? Max’s baptism? Or my new laptop. Baptism. Laptop. Baptism. Laptop.

16. what song will always remind you of 2006? A Song for the King

17. compared to this time last year, are you:happier or sadder? sadderthinner or fatter? fatterricher or poorer? poorer. Crap. What a depressing answer.

18. what do you wish you’d done more of? Laughing. Dancing. Worshipping. Praying. Laughing. Hugging.

19. what do you wish you’d done less of? Eating. Letting the kids know I was disappointed in how dirty they were in a not-inside voice.

20. how will you be spending christmas? Sleeping in. Then listening to my favorite songs loudly while doing the laundry and doing my Christmas baking. If I don’t have it done by then, I’ll probably be wrapping the gifts to take to the cabin the following day. If it’s not raining, I might go for a walk, but probably not. If I get any DVD’s from the kids for Christmas I might watch one. If not, I’ll read one of the three books I bought for myself. Maybe I’ll have a long bubble bath. Probably I’ll eat Ichiban noodle soup, fresh baking, and a chocolate bar or two … In all likelihood, I’ll spend some time praying for those I love. I will probably clean a room or two. And there’s a good chance I’ll do some blogging. Please don’t be jealous. I’m going to have a perfect day.

21. did you fall in love in 2006? Not love. But did have a short lived crush on a totally inappropriate single Christian fellow. I asked God to give me something else to think about. He did.

22. how many one-night stands? Just a sec, let me check my journal… uh, yeah, that’s right; none.

23. what was your favorite tv program? E.R.

24. do you dislike anyone now that you didn’t dislike this time last year? Yes. Should I list their names, here on the internet, for the world to see?

25. what was the best book you read? Pshaw. That’s like asking which son I love more.

26. what was your greatest musical discovery? Pocket Full of Rocks. And one Barenaked Ladies’ Christmas song - I Saw Three Ships”

32. how would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? Pass.

33. what kept you sane? West Wing got me through the fall.

34. which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Shane.

35. what political issue stirred you the most? Poverty in Uganda

36. who did you miss? Miss? Like, who did I try to hit with my trcuk but missed? Or who came to visit but I missed them because I was in the fields picking cotton? Or who have I been lonely for but didn’t connect with in 2006? Or who died that I miss? Or who moved away that I miss? No one.

37. who was the best new person you met? I met three new persons (prior to them being persons, they were fetuses – this fall, when they got borned, they became persons...) and they are equally the best.

38. tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006? “Life is what you make it. No deposit, no return.” And, “Jesus loves me this I know.”
