Summer schwummer. Can't hardly wait for summer to be over...

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. I spent my birthday money this afternoon. Took 10 minutes. I bought 2 pairs of good running shoes. I will spend the next year not wearing $20 Walmart runners. Bad enough I have a hip and knee that protest everytime I move - now my feet will have no reason to be achy.

2. Right now, this very minute, I'm not feeling very thankful, but maybe in retrospect I will. The house is quiet - all of the kids are out for sleepovers elsewhere. It's an awesome opportunity to tackle the cupboards, take care of the stack of papers, run around naked, finish the laundry, read a book, skim through blogs, do 1400 sit ups, update my facebook page, pluck chin hairs ... but it's Saturday night. The first Saturday night of summer. Shouldn't I be doing something FUN?

3. Max and I had Chinese Food for supper tonight. His fortune cookie said, "You will be loved." Mine said "Your mind, being creative and original, will make you famous." He commented, "Yeah, but too bad you won't be loved."
I love that he knows that being loved is better than being famous.
