But shortly after that, visitors dropped by:

Clint dropped by to see how his little bro was doing.
"Wikepedia saved my life," Max told him. "I searched my symptons and looked up appendicitis. I diagnosed myself then told mom to get me to the hospital."
Shortly after that, Jen dropped by to say hi.

Nan and Bups came too. Clint calls them the Appendix Fairies; instead of bringing Max flowers they gave him $100 bill.

And then, at 6 pm, they prepped him for surgery. I accompanied him down to the OR, where memories slammed me hard from every side. I gave birth to this boy, in this hospital, in this Operating Room.
After they wheeled him in, I made some phone calls, then fell apart. I had gone through 18 hours being strong and controlled. But, when I spoke to my sister-in-law on the phone I started to cry.
My sister called and offered to wait with me. I told her not to bother, I'd be fine. She totally ignored me and brought me a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup, some of my favorite left over Christmas baking and a cold bottled water. She had sat in that waiting area twice last year for Daryl and knew how boring it can be.
It was exactly what I needed.
