Book # 72

Diana Gabaldon says, "Remarkable... clashing cultures and wonderful characters." So I bought it. In hard cover.

Julia receives an old (1625) book of embroidery patterns and in it's margins, are the faintest diary entries written by Catherine in the 17th century. "Cat" and others were stolen from their Cornish church in the 1600's by Muslin pirates and taken on a brutal voyage to Morocco to be auctioned off as slaves.

This book is about the stories Julia in 2007 and Cat in 1625 and how their lives interwined even though they live 400 years apart.

Twas good. But in some parts it felt like a history lesson was being shoved at me. So I skimmed those paragraphs.

It was written by a Jane and I feel it's my duty to support writers named Jane.
