Broken Joy

After 20 years of faithful service, the wooden "JOY" that has decked our halls happily ever since the boys were born, took a midnight nose dive off the family room mantle and broked itself.

And the set of three candles elegantly placed on the twig and glass table in my front entrance? Were in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up being at the tail end of a series of events that started upstairs innocently but ended disasterously for one of the glass and iron holders.

In other news, I finished reading this: Book # 83 done.
I think I am too old for Coupland.

(Although, in an off-hand way that he probably thought was insulting, Drew observed that "you're like a teenager - with all the things that you do and places you go" ... He said this in response to me listing all the kids who were at play on Saturday night.)

Still. I just don't 'get' Coupland. And to top it off, this book in particular, had a sad story line. Which didn't do much to get me in the happy, clappy Christmas spirit. The next book I read should be a mindless romance I think. Although that always ignites a longing....

Sigh.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Challenging, comforting, interesting, educating, passionate sermons week after week at Northview.
2. Long phone calls with my mom.
3. Spring is not that far away.

Shalom,
