Sunset at White Rock

Lately I've been coming home from work and falling asleep on the couch in the family room. I wake up to make a supper for the kids I birthed but who rarely eat at my table.
I've been eating alone, then packing up the leftovers for their lunches.

Then I go back to the couch to watch mindless TV.
Two weeks of this.

It ended today.

I got home from work at 4, changed into puffy, fluffy clothes and headed back out to meet Sandra at the beach. On my way, Max called. He wondered what was for supper. (Uh, nothing. I'm having fish and chips in White Rock...) Then he asked if we could go shopping (!) - he wanted to get started repainting his room(!). Then Clint called. He was on his way home... what were we having for dinner?
TWO weeks I sit at home and no one's around. The day I make plans, they are going to be home.

Sandra and I practiced taking night shots, choosing shutter speeds and experimenting with different settings.

After walking the entire promenade, we had dinner at Moby Dick's. It was like stepping back in time... quaint like the 50's.

When I got home, Max was putting WallE into the DVD player, so Clint and I joined him in watching the cutest male actor EVER.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Unexpected answers to prayer.

2. A mild, wind-free, glorious night on the beach.

3. Friends who like to talk. (On Saturday night, after the Christmas Gala at South Gate, Rose and I sat in my truck on her driveway and chatted for over two hours.)

4. Pastor Jeff's sermon on Sunday was outstanding. I love listening to biblically based messages that are rich with stories, applications and meaning.

5. I'm thankful that this year is winding down. 2008 hasn't been my favorite.

Shalom,
