Womin and Chillin

Last night, at around 10 pm, whilst cleaning up sumthin r other, I thought of a friend whose husband is away on a missions trip. She's got one 19 year old son still living at home.

And then another friend came to mind; her husband is away on business, and she's got one son at home, her 18 year old.

And then another friend crossed my mind; her husband often works late, so suppers at her house are quiet events - just her and her 18 year old son.

And, from there, I thought of another friend ... her husband is in the process of building up his business, so he often skips supper and stays at work. She's got a 19 year old son too.

And, of course, there's my other friend, who is divorced and ...

Well, you get the idea.

Suppers around my house are so unsatisfying. Rarely do I have more than 1 child at the table with me. And regardless of which child it happens to be, no conversation happens. At their insistance.

I wonder if other moms have this same problem. I doubt it.

And then, in a totally spontaneous moment, I emailed/facebooked all my friends and their kids and invited them to come over tonight for pizza. I hoped that at least one of them could join us ...

Guess what? I had 12 people over for dinner tonight.

How awesome is that?

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. I had 12 people over for dinner tonight. SO thankful for friends.
2. I am going to be in bed by midnight tonight.
3. I earned a few months of job security by lending my camera to my supervisor. He's taking it to Phoenix next week.

Shalom,
