Today is Ash Wednesday?

The start of Lent?
Man, that snuck up on me...

I am going to play along this time. Observe it.
Give up something. Make a sacrifice. Think about Easter. Anticipate Easter.
Appreciate all that He gave up for me.

Not sure what Ash Wednesday is?
It's the start of Lent. According to Wikipedia:

Lent is the forty-day-long season of fasting and prayer before Easter. The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the desert, where He endured temptation by Satan. Different churches calculate the forty days differently... The six Sundays in Lent are not counted among the forty days because each Sunday represents a "mini-Easter, a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death.

I will fast from Cadbury Cream Eggs, Facebook, and Staying Up Later Than 1:00 am for Lent.
(Sundays don't count. I can have a mini-Easter-celebration on the Sabbath each week! For me and my love of Saturday evening church services, this will fall on Saturday.)

Are you observing Lent?
What'll you be sacrificing?

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. I actually found the snow pretty today. But that may be because all of us were home by 5 pm and not driving in it. (Yes, for those of you not living in my corner of the continent - we had a blizzard here today.)

2. Looks like we're going to have a good turnout at the Arrow Mentoring Event on Saturday morning at 10th Ave Alliance. Interested in joining us? Email me.

3. Busy weekend ahead. Lots to look forward to. Lots to be thankful for.

Shalom,
