As those of you who view movies with me will know, I am not Sandy's biggest fan. (Hello? All About Steve) (The Lake House) (Miss Congeniality Part 2)
But after tonight`s Academy Award acceptance speech, I am softening. And after her 10 minute interview on Barbara Walter's LAST Academy Award show, I might just love Sandra Bullock a little bit.
So. Now on to real life.
I've set aside tomorrow as a day to pray. (In between working and getting my house ready for the painter and doing laundry)
I've still got that "one (big) thing" on my list, so I thought I'd put that on the table again :).
And I have been mulling over a conversation I've had recently with one of my kids regarding prayer, "Why bother praying? God is God, He's going to do whatever He wants regardless..." As is usual in conversations with my kids, I am tongue tied in response to their statements, and it takes time, sometimes MONTHS before I figure out a response. And so now, after pondering things for awhile, my reply is this. If your relationship with God is all about asking for things, then uh, yeah, you might find yourself frustrated with the lack of "yes" answers you receive. But if your prayer time with God is more like a conversation with someone you have a relationship with, well then, seems to me you are going to applaud and get excited when God does what He does.
Anyway. I won't be on facebook for 24 hours. Nor will I be posting anything but prayer related things here. And if I can remember, I will fast from food too. (Sometimes I eat without thinking.)
Because there's power in agreement (...two or more gathering (online?) together to pray), please join me.
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Our God loves to hear from us. He's waiting to chat.
2. There are verses in the Bible like this one: "I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking to me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers." Is 65:24
3. Stillness.
