In my defense... my kids are all away. I'm having a week off work. And everything was half price.
OK.
I slept til 11 am.
And somehow managed to get to the theater to meet a friend in time for the noon showing of:
Which was good but not good enough to bring tears to my eyes. I was moved however to put the book onto my "to be read" pile. So that's something. Regardless, I would recommend it as a good family movie option ...
After we had lunch, she went off to have another turkey dinner while I went off to have dinner with another friend. Then three of us went back to the theater to watch:
where we all drooled over Angelina's wardrobe and didn't drool over Johnny Depp because there was no magic. No spark. No sizzle. His eyes were as flat in the movie as they are above in the poster. Still. It was good. Better even than I expected.
Then I came home and finished reading:
Which had me captivated from the first chapter. Holy cow. What a gruesome premise for a book. What a great story. It's the first book in a trilogy and the other two books have already been written. So I know what I'm reading next. And next again.
And now? At 2:30 am? I'm watching the third Lord of the Rings movie.
I love Christmas break.
Three things I'm thankful for.
1. A day with no rain.
2. Friendship.
3. A house that still smells like a Christmas tree.
Shalom,
