Three Little Things

... that I'm thankful for:

1. Dad's birthday dinner at the ABC lasted one hour and it was perfect. Thankful that mom organized it, that the taxi door didn't open unexpectedly on the way over (I had visions of dad in his wheelchair careening down the Fraser Hwy during holiday weekend rush hour) and that the thickening agent we added to his virgin Caesar didn't ruin his enjoyment of it.

He was very proud to be wearing his jeans.

Here he is, smiling and content, in his wheelchair in the back of the taxi...

2. Thankful for the walk and talk and tea and movie (after the birthday dinner) with a friend.

3. Thankful that this movie was as good as I thought it would be. (It reminds me of that other 'retirement age' age movie: Cocoon. Loved that one too.)

I wonder. How adventurous/adaptable will I be when I'm retired/old? Will I embrace the inevitable changes or hang on to 'the way things should be'. Does there come a point when a person is too old to learn new tricks?

I recommend this film.
And I'd see it again.
Just sayin.

Shalom,
