Just another weekend ...

...

and it was filled with love.

This, came in the mail:

Thanks, Steve.
I am looking forward to reading it.

Saw this, on Friday night:

Thanks, Tina Fey, for continuing  to entertain me.
And so thankful for bff's. We walked. We ate. We saw a movie. We talked.
My favorite way to end a work-week.

Drew (and Brett) dropped by on Saturday night at 10 pm, while I was watching Game of Thrones's 'extra' features. He suggested that I need a hobby, as I have a boring life. I told him I'd been to church and out with Nan (my mom) but he wasn't convinced.
"What do you DO?" he asked.
"Well, I do have a job," I replied.
"You're dating someone, aren't you?" he asked. "You have so much time on your hands now..."
"Uh, yeah. No. I just work, and have coffee with friends."
He looked skeptical.

We both got report cards this week.
His was a one month review at work. (Mine was a three month review.)
His was better than mine. All A's. "Best report I've ever had in my entire life."
I told him that mine was good, considering my rough start. And that the recommendation I received was that I needed to be more confident in my abilities, because they believe I can do this job well.
"Yeah, that's your problem. You have no confidence."
I agreed.
I don't.
I suggested this might be because the voices I hear in my head, about who I am, are the ones that the O men in my life have said as they have left.
"Well, hear this," he says, and he reads Clint's note that I've posted on the fridge.
"You are a great mom.... "

:)

And today?
Today, Max called.
Said he was coming over. Was that OK?

He pulled up as I was bringing in groceries. He emptied my truck for me, without me asking.
I've wondered what that would be like.
I now know.
IT'S FREAKING AWESOME.

Then he cut my lawn.
I KNOW!

I re-heated some leftovers, then packed up food for him to take home.
He brought his dirty dishes over to the sink (!) and looked in the dishwasher.
"These clean?" he asked.
"Uh huh."
AND HE EMPTIED IT.

I looked at him and said, "Seriously. I don't know what happened. But, wow. Wow."
"Get used to it," he replied.

And then he gave me a huge hug.

Say WUT?

He asked me what projects I was working on at work. He wondered how Bups was doing. I told him I'd had my employee review and shared what comments had been made. "It's that self-doubt of yours. You should be more confident. You can do this."

:)

Were you keeping score?
There are 5 love languages:

  • Gifts
  • Words of affirmation
  • Acts of service
  • Time
  • Touch
and I was on the receiving end of ALL 5 this weekend.

I?
Have a big smile on my face right now.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Well, I'm clearly thankful for everything I've just written about.
2. I'm also thankful for the opportunities Clint has for this summer.
3. And I'm thankful for my sister. She has selflessly cared for my dad for over a year, 4 - 5 times a week, for 3 - 4 hours per day. She does so with grace, humor, and love. She is an amazing, strong, talented woman and I am proud of her.
Happy Birthday, Jule. I love you.
