WHOA.

Five of us attended the Free Public Lecture tonight at Regent College and my ordered world took a big hit. I was the only one in our group that walked out of there stunned; everyone else had been on board for years.

The topic: Creation and Evolution - The Difficult Questions
The assumptions, as outlined at the front end of the lecture:
1. We all agree with Darwin
2. The Bible is the inspired word of God, cover to cover.

I KNOW!
I know. I know. I know.
How does one open up one's mind to accept something contrary to what they've been taught/believed for 49 years?
Apparently there is no conflict. A person does not have to choose between creation or evolution. One is not God's theory and the other one Satan's.

You can have both fish decals on your car - one with and one without feet.

Remember a while ago, Clint was hassling me about the age of the earth? Yeah - that discussion ties in with this one. Because the FACTS AND EVIDENCE point to an old earth and the FACTS AND EVIDENCE indicate that our first cousins are chimpanzees.

My head is so sore right now you wouldn't believe it.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. There are some smart people out there who nudge me to think.
2. I have two twenty-something year olds in the house (Shannon and Clint) who patiently discussed this topic with me when I got home.
3. Craft night last night.

Shalom,
