Willy and Katy

Did you watch?
By 'watch', I mean 'did you stay up all night'?

I was fully planning to. I brought down my bedding and got into my pj's and had my laptop at my side for minute by minute blogging updates and then I fell asleep at 1:30am.

I woke up at 7:30 and watched the highlights on every channel. I paused to take Drew to school, then continued watching til I finally left for work at around 10.

I watched reruns and highlights again all evening long so now I am an expert on the events of the day.

I have a crush on Harry.

I think that hat craze is stupid.

I wasn't a fan of the lace bodice and sleeves on first viewing but by the end of the day, I loved it. Please don't misunderstand me. I AM a fan of wedding dresses having bodices and sleeves, just wasn't a keen supporter of the lace at first. (Don't get me started on the whole pushy-uppy-strapless-wedding-gowns trend we have these days. Seriously? Ten months of the year we have wet, cold weather. A strapless gowned wedding party is fine for summer weddings. Let's say, for example, it's March. And it is cool. Under any other circumstances you would wear seasonally appropriate clothing. Long sleeves. A scarf probably. A jacket. Tights or leggings. Or pants. But it's your wedding day - on a date you have chosen. And you decide to get married in a low cut strapless gown with an airy floaty skirt... You want the photos taken outside, on the beach, or in a park, or in an urban centre... and you are freezing. BECAUSE YOU ARE HALF NAKED.)

Anyway, I loved that Kate's dress, for an April wedding, had sleeves and a bodice. And by the time I finished 12 hours of updates, I loved the lace too.

I think Pippa looked stunning.
Wow.

I loved the simplicity of the wedding party - she had her sister. He had his brother.
It added to the elegance and maturity of the event.

And what else?
Uhhhhm.

I loved seeing Will look into Kate's eyes. I loved how gentlemanny he was when they were getting into and out of vehicles. I loved how confident she looked. Her man loves her. That gives any woman a glow.

I think Kate's mom is a class act. Her outfit was perfect.

I still have issues with Camilla.

Beatrice has beautiful eyes and impeccable taste in coats. Her shoes are nice. It's unfortunate that her fallopian tubes aren't inside her abdomen like the rest of the female population's are.

There's probably some sort of surgery available that could correct that.

David Beckham is a handsome man, no?

This is them, the day after:

She is a tall girl.
I predict they will have long-legged babies.

Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Fairy tale romances with princes and princesses and castles and kisses.
2. Nice visit and dinner with my dad and mom tonight. They love me.
3. BCAA. No kidding. Max's truck's tire was flat - so they came to the house, 20 minutes after my call. They had it off and repaired (there was a nail in it) and back on in less than ten minutes. Impressive.
4. Mandi. She's coming to 'babysit' Drew while I'm cruising next week.
5. Friends who are coming cruising with me next week.
6. Cruise lines that offer cheap repositioning cruises.

Shalom,

Kate's dress also had sleeves and a bodice because there are RULES about what you can and cannot be showing in Westminster Abbey. Like shoulders, which is why Pippa's dress also had cap sleeves.

Which only adds to the stress of knowing EVERYONE will judge your ability as future queen by the dress you pick today.

I also loved it. And have a fondness for Harry, that rapscallion.

Thanks for the Sunday morning giggle, Jane. The whole Fallopian-tube-hat thing was too funny. Both of Andrew and Fergie's girls looked like something from Alice In Wonderland (the Tim Burton version).
FYI, my mother insisted that I was destined, from the cradle, to marry Prince Andrew but now that I see him looking so middle-aged pudgy I think I am glad I resisted that destiny. He did marry another redhead just to get over losing me, and let's face it, it didn't work out too well for him, but I think I made the right decision. Pudgy princes and fallopian-tube-hats lose their charm after a while.
Anyway, enough about me. I hope your Floating Fiftieth is all that you hope it will be. Have a blast!

You had Brewier and I in tears with your fallopian tube comment. We couldn't agree with you more. I watched the wedding from 4 am until bedtime...and now I feel a bit let down, like when Christmas is over.
