In case you're wondering, this is what an invitation to a Favourite Things Party says:
- Do you have another favorite thing? Something that you're glad you've discovered? Something that you use all the time and it's Just So Handy? Or something that you use just once in awhile, but when you use it, it's Perfect For the Job?
It doesn't have to be WOW. It just has to be something that is your favourite thing.
Here's how the party works:
Each person brings a favourite thing (anything you like.. your favourite lip gloss, favourite kitchen tool, favourite gift wrapping supply, a gift card for your favourite frozen yoghurt, a favourite paperback book, a favourite travel accessory, favourite decorating item, favourite devotional, favourite grooming item, coupon for favourite coffee shop beverage, favourite music CD, favourite feel good movie on DVD, favourite cleaning accessory, favourite blend of tea or coffee, favourite gardening gadget etc.).
It can't cost more than $15, and you bring three of the same thing.
When you arrive at the party, you write your name on three slips of paper and throw them in a big bowl. The bowl is passed around, and each person takes three names (making sure you don't pick your own.. or two of the same name). One at a time each person introduces their favourite thing and then reads the three names they picked from the bowl, passing out their 'gift' to those three women. After everyone at the party has presented their favourite thing, each person should end up with three new favourite things to take home.
(You don't have to gift wrap your favourite things.)
Sounds like fun, yes?
D'ya wanna come? Please do. And bring a friend or neighbour or sister or daughter or whoever you think would like to join in.
And if you absolutely cannot think of one blessed thing to bring, come anyway and see what everyone else's favourite thing is.
And in case you're wondering, here are photos of what my friends' favourite things are:

If you're planning a party, make sure to invite lots of friends who don't know each other. The tension you'll feel about mixing up three to four very separate social circles is good for your heart. And it makes the evening all that more awesome when you realize that everyone got along and played nicely.
Thanks to everyone who came out.
What a fun, fun evening.
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. Friends
2. Friends who are friendly.
3. Friends who are enthusiastic about sharing a good idea.
Shalom,
xo
