Love looks like ...

... this.

Omi, on the kitchen floor, talking about moo cows and green cars.

(I was there for two hours, and it took John that long to do all the dishes. They'd just had all their kids and grandkids over for brunch. I mentioned my awe. He said, "Val looks after the food. I clean up." So I asked, "Who ends up spending more time in the kitchen?" They both said it was about even.

The part that I took note of was his attitude for those two hours. Not grumpy. Not feeling sorry for himself. Not bitter. Not whiny. He smiled and visited and was happy.)

This?
Is what love looks like.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three things I'm thankful for:
1. I'm thankful for people who figure it out... how to love, how to be kind, how to work together. I witnessed it this afternoon on Val's kitchen floor. And again while watching the Academy Awards tonight. Everyone's thank you speech included gratefulness for the team that got them to the stage. And the teams they worked with on their projects. I friggen love stories of people who bring out the best in each other.
2. I'm thankful for conversations in coffee shops. Friday night, especially, left me inspired. Thanks, KN.
3. I'm thankful that Aslan is on the move. And that every once in awhile we get a glimpse of His hand at work.
Shalom,
xo
Gretchen Rubin had a good quote today:
"But what is work and what is not work? Is it work to dig, to carpenter, to plant trees, to fell trees, to ride, to fish, to hunt, to feed chickens, to play the piano, to take photographs, to build a house, to cook, to sew, to trim hats, to mend motor bicycles? All of these things are work to somebody, and all of them are play to somebody. There are in fact very few activities which cannot be classed either as work or play according as you choose to regard them." - George Orwell
Perhaps washing dishes is love to him.
A man who washes dishes is as sexy as a man with an extensive book collection is as sexy as a man with a cat.
